A trip back in time: Newark Airport
On October 1st, 1928 Newark Airport was the first major airport to open in the New York-New Jersey metropolitan area. Built on 68 acres of marshland, it quickly became the world’s busiest commercial airport and hosted a variety of historical aviation firsts. Pioneers such as Charles Lindbergh and Amelia Earhart had ties to this facility in the 1930’s which included building dedications and some of their historic flights. Throughout the past 80 years Newark Liberty International Airport has gone through several expansions and renovations and now stands as the 13th busiest Airport in the nation and the 22nd busiest in the world.
